Ophelia’s Bouquet

Ophelia’s Bouquet

This visual project that I created is inspired by Shakespeare’s play, Hamlet. In the play, a character named Ophelia is assumed to be a simple-minded lovestruck female who goes crazy for no apparent reason. The reality is that Ophelia is more attentive than they realize and shows this through her bouquet and the disperses before her suicide. The symbolism within Ophelia’s bouquet demonstrates her intelligence and that she knows everyone’s secrets without telling everyone she knows. Shakespeare inspired the flowers within the bouquet from the Medieval era. As you can see labelled on the back of this project, the Medieval era and all the entertainment and art that emerged after the era uses items to symbolize what they are trying to say.
