758028 Private Donald Reid was born in Barrie Ontario on the 9th of July 1895 at the time of his enlistment he was twenty years of age and unmarried.
His attestation and medical examination were held on the 30th of May 1916 at Hamilton Ontario. Approved on the 3rd of June 1916 and Posted to the 120th City of Hamilton Battalion Canadian Expeditionary Force. Trained at Niagara On The Lake Ontario. On completion of training, Donald was to proceed overseas with the Battalion. Donald departed Halifax on the 14th of August 1916 aboard the Empress of Britain arriving in England 24th of August 1916.
Donald was transferred to the 134th Battalion Canadian Expeditionary Force on the 25th of January 1917 a replacement Battalion and was ordered to proceed to France on May 23rd, 1917 and was transferred to the 3rd Battalion Canadian Expeditionary Force a Toronto Battalion one of Canada’s Fighting Battalions.
Reported Wounded and Missing Donald was not lost during a major battle most likely in no man's land during a skirmish in the Ypres Salient Belgium. Presumed Killed in Action on the 6th of June 1917.
Donald’s mother Mrs. Margaret Reid received her Memorial Cross on the 2nd of September 1920. The family received the Memorial Plaque on December 11th, 1922
