Nyctimene

A myth revolving the seemingly fictious princess of Lesbos and her merciful transformation into an owl at the hands of Athena, this story has a number of differing narratives shared across three of Rome's most notable authors in Ovid, Hyginus and Servius. This story was likely composed during the reign of Augustus.

Augustus, in some accounts, donated heavily to the production of some of the larger works wherein this myth is found.
